About The Piece:
Thoughtbox is a miniature trombone fantasy written periodically while improvising in the practice room on my trombone and transcribing the results. It was scored in the style of a typical “French” trombone solo, repertoire usually required by aspiring trombonists. The opening statement is a direct reference to the Morceau Symphonique, the first solo I was required to study at the Dana School of Music.
