Performances 20 & 21-At the Mall and a Holiday Brass Concert

We’re winding down to the end of the year. It’s hard to believe that it’s December already and that I’ll be wrapping this quest up soon. I still have a few more concerts to attend 25 before the end of the year, but I beleive that I’ll make it.

The first performance for this report I saw was on Black Friday at the Mall of America. Normally I’m not out that day but my S.O. insisted that we go see the Christmas trees on display for the Special Olympics Fundraiser that they do every year. ( which is totally worth it by the way!) The band on the stage was a Rock band called SM6. They performed a smattering of Christmas songs and band originals. I really enjoyed experiencing the energy that they gave off, watching their stage chemistry, and the duet between the two singers on Oh Holy Night that was just beautiful and delightfully unexpected!

The second performance in this report was on Friday, December 1st and it was the Lake Wobegone Brass Band Holiday concert. (I enjoyed them so much the first time that I wanted to hear them a second time!) They delivered a spectacular performance of several holiday pop tunes. I especially loved hearing the opening antiphonal brass on the first holiday Fanfare, and the Polar Express medley.
